Amnesty International- Write for Rights on December 10

I wondered if anyone was interested in a 'virtual'- WRITE FOR RIGHTS writeathon on December 10 to support Amnesty International Human Rights Day?

I just think its a good idea to find sometime- even if its just 30 minutes during a lunch break, to send e-mails and letters to support cases not only in Canada but internationally too- receiving letters across the globe strengthens the support and confirms awareness of individual issues

Whether its upholding the rights of the Tahltan people and the environment in BC to writing to President Joseph Kabila of the Democratic Republic of Congo to protect human rights activist Justine Masika Bihamba who has been targeted by the military because of her work on women's rights...

Kids can also get involved and and young activists may like to write a letter to Colombia to ask for protection of children living in a 'peace community' who just want to live in peace...

And of course this doesn't have to be coordinated through Amnesty- you may wish to select a local issue that you feel needs to be addressed to protect the environment and/or people- write to your local MP or write to your local newspaper about it...

DOES ANYONE WANT TO PUT ASIDE THEIR LUNCH BREAK ON DEC 10th TO WRITE LETTERS OF SUPPORT? If so sign up here and also on the Amnesty International site (link above)
