CANNABIS LEGALISATION

Cannabis prohibition has been an absolute failure in this country, and it's about to get much worse. The Federal CONservatives in all their wisdom, have pushed bill C-15 through the House of Commons, and now waits for senate approval. This bill introduces mandatory minimum sentences for drug production including cannabis. For as little as two cannabis plants or passing a joint will land you in jail, if the senate approves the draconian plan. This approach has failed in the states. They have mandatory minimum sentencing for drug crimes, and the highest per capita incarceration rate in the world. With 8% of the worlds population, the USA has 25% of the worlds prisoners. This is madness. Cannabis is a safe drug, in fact it's safer than alcohol, tobacco, or asprin. Cannabis is not addictive and has never caused a death from consumption in the last 5000 years. Recently cannabis has been shown to stop MS, and kill cancer cells. Cannabis should be available to all who need or want it, in fact it should be legalized, taxed and sold in stores like the liquor stores. The tax generated would be nicely spent on health care or education. What are your thoughts on this?
