Hello Everyone...
I'm completely new at this whole thing. The reason why I'm here is, I write poems and I have a friend who suggested I give this a shot to get some feedback on my poems. I know poetry isn't for everyone and that's ok, but anyone that does appreciate poetry - please I just ask you take a few minutes and read my poem and let me know what you think. Below is a poem I wrote about the Earthquake in Haiti.
Thanks so much!
In Ruins

Life's so short and fragile, we're not sure of our last day
Let's take the tragedy in Haiti, for example if we may
It's been the largest quake since '84, with a 7.3 magnitude
That country is in desperate need of clean water, doctor's and food
It's hard to get to them, crumbled buildings are everywhere
But we have to go and help them to show them that we care
The roads, they are broken, people lie injured in the streets
It's so sad to see this happen, dead bodies covered in sheets
All around is in ruins, thousands are buried beneath the rubble
Looters are starting to shoot for food - this country's in so much trouble
So many are starving and dehydrated but still looking for family that's lost
They're not sure what tomorrow will bring, but they keep going at any cost
A few days have now passed and help has arrived
Maybe there's hope for families, who through this disaster, have survived
The men will keep digging, until they just can't dig no more
They listen for voices then move the rubble until their bodies and hands are sore
Over a week has passed now, hope for survivors is growing slim
As the people search through the ruins, they suddenly spot a limb
A brother and a sister, all of seven and ten
Are pulled from beneath the rubble alive - hallelujah - amen
Life's so short and fragile, we're not sure of our last day
Let's not take it for granted, let's live it all today
