What are your thoughts on an adult-only theatre possibly coming to Bridgewater?

I don't know how to delicately put this without offending anyone (and I don't want to- trust me!!!)

BUT

Surely the point of watching soft porn or porn is because you enjoy watching these movies because they arouse you...

SO- I find it rather odd that someone would want to sit in a public place watching a movie that causes arousal and you have to sit there crossing your legs!!

My opinion would be that having a porn theatre in Bridgewater would be pretty pointless- I think people would want to watch stuff like this in the privacy of their own home

Hope I haven't offended!!!

I think there are much better businesses that could come to Bridgewater other than porn......I agree with Carolyn as to why anyone would want to go to a public place to watch this and I think it breeds unwanted trouble.....that being said, there are many such things all over the world and it is bound to happen sooner or later.....

I'm writing from BC as a past resident of the South Shore. I keep up to date on the topics and news from home through Southshorenow.ca and I feel that there is alot of great discussion topics here.

The topic at hand is the "Adult Theatre". As mentioned in the video podcast was, it's not the right of the public to determine if a business is viable. That can be decided by those in power issuing a business license. If there is a bylaw prohibiting such a venture, then that will be addressed. If a business is going to come to town and it is deemed a threat of harm to the surrounding area, then yes concerns may be voiced. (Ex a bar next to a playground, etc).

As with anything out there, there has to be a market for the product or service. Not knowing the party looking to bring this theatre to Bridgewater, I would hope they would of done a proper business plan and market analysis as any other responsible business person would do.

On the topic of those who go to these movies, it's a matter of choice. If you're offended by the content, don't go. If you enjoy the idea, then it's for you. The topic of "PORN THEATRE" and Adult Theatre I believe are two different topics depending on what kind of films are being shown.

If it's a theatre that is screening tasteful "adult" movies that barely cross the border of a blockbuster R rated film, then I believe it has an audience and can bring itself to be profitable. Distasteful films that show degrading images will not be something of pride to a town.

I would like to think that the potential owners want to bring something that will attract an upper scale clientele and plan to manage the operations so that it doesn't get out of control or become a dive.

These are solely my opinions, whether wrong or right, take it as you please.

Out of interest (because I am not sure of the difference to be honest) but what is the difference between soft porn and adult movies?

I would not go there,if I want to watch porn I would rent it and watch it at home, but I am not against it ,an adult theatre will create employment . In my opinion a porn theatre in Bridgewater will not last long.
