I have a dilemma.

First let me preface this by saying that I don't know a lot about politics. I do not belong to any particular party and I think I'm pretty typical of busy mothers. So here's my dilemma:

Without naming parties, I think I like the leaders of a particular party. The local candidate in my riding...not-so-much. The person I like locally, the leader of that party is a complete ass!

So what's a voter to do? Vote for the big picture, with the leader that I like, even though that would mean checking off the name of someone who I question, or vote for someone who is more likable, essentially voting for a leader, who, in my opinion, isn't a good leader at all.

WWYD? (what would you do)

I may or may not be right but this is what I do....I vote for the big picture if it is a leader I believe in or basically....I always question how much I believe of any of them however, we can only hope they have our best interest at heart because that is the way our system works and at least we have a right to vote in our beautiful country, province and municipality. The overall leader really chooses the big picture ....somewhat like managers....u have the boss and then u have the manager...overall, the boss rules! The leader in the riding only can move so much without the backing of the people and the support of the overall leader through his objectives for the province. It is a hard choice and I am sure many of us make this choice to the best of our ability every once in awhile before going to the polls. At least, the people such as yourself are trying to make an informed choice, therefore, taking the time and energy to think seriously about it before marking the paper on election day!!! The only bad vote is no vote...

Personally I think voting for the person is more important. Elected representatives can influence, vote against the party line or even change parties. To me, voting for a party defeats the purpose of a democracy, which is to have local representation in government. The best person will listen to their constituents before their party leader anyway.

Ah, yes, another good point. But I still don't know what to do :)
But thanks, I never thought of it that way.
