About...

Hi- my name is Carolyn Ekins.

My interests are people, community and our environment (besides a whole host of other others).

My day job is web manager at Lighthouse Media Group where I enjoy my work and have some great work colleagues too.. I also in my own life am Editor of a mainly European website for those living 'Alternative Country Lifestyles'.. typically people that have a care for the environment and their surroundings...www.acountrylife.com

I also love waffling about trying to be greener in my blog www.frugalandgreenish.com

My passion is believing that people themselves will voluntarily commit to working together to improve their communities, environment and ultimately the planet without peer pressure in a negative way.... finding the right way to inspire people to do so, I feel, is an important corner to turn..

Interests

Lots of them, I particularly enjoy movies, music and bread making for home based interests....enjoy thinking a lot too.

Movies- the best movies I have watched in the last 12 months are..The Last King of Scotland, Confetti, Memoirs of a Geisha, Twilight, Elizabeth, Tudors, New World, Mamma Mia! (just for it's cheesiness and feel good factor), Patch Adams, Code 46 and Wall-E

Music- the Artists/CD's I have listened most to in the last 12 months are... Siousxsie and the Banshees, Garbage (who were inspired by Siousxsie and the Banshees), Andrea Bocelli, Twilight Soundtrack, Wintersleep, Bjork (used to listen to Bjork when she was in the Sugar Cubes while soldering circuit boards during the night shift at an electronics factory!),.... lots of stuff!

It really helps in our house to make our own bread whenever we h… Continue

Thank You, Carolyn!
Is this the right place to ask all different questions about life in South Shore? :)

Hi Linda! I know Corey through LQRDA- initially through Neil Emenau (we are here on work and study permits in the Province through the Uk)... and he has been a real help and I think is a great welcoming ambassador for the South Shore for potential immigrants- we are lucky to have him!

I have a little flip cam so just take some little clips when and where I can for the Newcomers Group- it's important to record what goes on in our community I think and video is an excellent way of sharing our experiences!

Hi Carolyn: It was lovely to meet you too at the Museum. How do you and Corey now each other? Are you the official videographer for Newcomer's Group? Keep in touch. Regards, Linda
