Blue Beach is a relatively recent discovery in terms of being a bona fide fossil beach. It is just 50 minutes from Halifax in Avonport, and is home to the Blue Beach Fossil Museum.

Unlike Joggins, it is a "freshwater" example as the fossils were formed when the area was a bog, and not oceanic (coral, shells etc). It also has the oldest known examples of tetrapod footprints (tetrapod being the first known vertibrate to walk on land) on the planet!… Continue
